I have begun student teaching at West Stokes High School, NC. Even though the drive is every bit as miserable as I thought it would be (about 45 minutes each way) it's been a fantastic experience so far. I don't feel like I'm quite as ill-prepared as everyone said I'd be ("You don't learn anything until you student teach!") but I don't feel like I'm rocking it out, either. I feel overwhelmingly average, which pretty much blows.
I'm trying very hard not to think about my mission intern application, which is in the far-away land called New York and completely out of my control.
